2013 HLS Summer Housing

We are pleased to announce that we will be once again offering summer housing in Shaw Hall and Story Hall to HLS students who currently live in HLS Housing. Because we will be renovating Holmes, Ames, and Dane Hall this summer, There is very limited availability for summer housing. In fact, this year we will only be able to offer 4 spots on campus. Rooms will be first come, first serve based on the order in which students apply for housing.

Summer Residency Dates
Residence Hall rooms will be available in Shaw and Story for summer housing from May 31, 2013 through August 3, 2013. Current HLS housing residents must be fully moved out of their current dorm room and moved into their summer housing dorm room by the end of day on May 31, 2013.  All summer rooms must be vacated by August 3, 2013.

Summer Construction
Please note that Ames, Dane, and Holmes Hall will be undergoing major renovations this summer, so there will be a good chance of noise, vibrations, and dust that disturb Shaw and Story Halls. Please take this construction into consideration when deciding whether or not you would like to live in the dorms over the summer.

High School Residents
The HLS dorms are rented out to summer organizations for June and July. These organizations are often high school organizations, so the other residents of Shaw and Story this summer will mostly be high school students. Please take this into account when making your summer housing decision.

Eligibility
Only Harvard Law School students who are living on campus as of spring 2013 are eligible for summer housing. Harvard Law School students preparing for the Bar receive first priority.

Cost & Payment
The cost for a room is $50 per night (which is about $1,500 a month). Full payment for your entire summer stay in the form of a check or money order (made out to Harvard Law School) must be received by Becky Andreasson in the Facilities Management Office by the date specified in the confirmation email.

Cancellations
If you no longer need summer housing (whether you have received a room assignment, confirmed a room, or been placed on the waitlist) please email housing@law.harvard.edu. There is no cancellation penalty. However, we would like to know as soon as you are aware you will not require housing so that we can offer your room to a student on the waitlist.

Waitlist
If no rooms are available at the time of your application, you will be notified by email of being placed on the waitlist. Should a room become available, it will be offered via email to the first student on the waitlist, who will then have two days to accept or reject the room. In the past, we have been able to accommodate all of the students who want to live on campus during the summer.

If you have any questions or concerns, please email us at housing@law.harvard.edu.

If you would like to apply for summer housing, please complete and submit the 2013 HLS Summer Housing Application form.
