HLSList is run by the Harvard Law School Dean of Students Office. All postings are done by the office and you can get in touch with either hbrown @ law.harvard.edu or dos @ law.harvard.edu to learn more about any listing. Listings are done on a regular basis, often during the academic year. The Dean of Students Office will regularly monitor submissions and approve them as soon as possible.
By accessing content on the HLSList website (the “Site,” which includes all pages within the http://www.hlslist.com/ host directory), a website hosted by the Office of Student Affairs at Harvard Law School, a division of President & Fellows of Harvard College (“Harvard”), you accept and agree to be bound by the following User Agreement:
Use of Content
By accessing the Site, you agree to engage in only personal, noncommercial uses of Site Content or uses of Site Content for instructional purposes. Without first obtaining our permission, you may not otherwise copy, reproduce, retransmit, distribute, publish, commercially exploit or otherwise make available any Site Content. You further agree not to modify, adapt, sub-license, translate, sell, reverse-engineer, decompile or disassemble any portion of the Site. For purposes of this Agreement, “Site Content” shall not include User-Generated Content that you personally submitted to the Site for publication.
By submitting User-Generated Content for publication on the Site, you grant Harvard a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, transferable, royalty-free, and non-exclusive license to reproduce, publicly perform, publicly display, and distribute said content on the Site.
You understand and agree that Harvard monitors User-Generated Content on the Site and reserves the right to modify or remove any of said content at its discretion, without notice, and for any reason. Harvard assumes no responsibility for monitoring, modifying, or removing the User-Generated Content on this Service.
You further understand and agree that theviews and opinions expressed by other users on the Site are theirs alone and should not be ascribed to Harvard. Content created by third parties is the sole responsibility of the third parties and its accuracy and completeness are not endorsed or guaranteed by Harvard.
Your use of this Site is subject to the conduct requirements set forth in Harvard Law School’s Handbook of Academic Policies, including without limitation the terms and provisions set forth in Section V.: Harvard Law School Computer and Network Resources Usage Agreement. By accessing the Site, you further understand and agree that you will not make use of the Site features supporting the submission and publication of User-Generated Content
- to make comments that are threatening, knowingly false, or unlawful or to engage in personal attacks;
- to impersonate any person or entity or create a false identity on the Site;
- to disseminate or transmit “spam,” unsolicited messages, chain letters, advertisements, solicitations, or other unsolicited commercial communications, including (but not limited to) communications describing investment opportunities;
- to post material that infringes a copyright, trademark or patent right, trade secret or other legal right of any person, including Harvard;
- to collect, print out, reproduce, distribute, or otherwise make available or use any personally-identifiable information about other users;
- to disseminate or transmit viruses, Trojan horses, worms, defects, date bombs, time bombs, malware, spyware, or other items of a destructive nature or any other malicious code or program.
Registration, Privacy, and Termination of Access
Certain areas of the Site may require registration or may otherwise ask you to provide information in order to participate. The decision to provide this information is optional; however if you elect not to provide such information, you may not be able to access certain content or features. When you register, you agree to provide information to Harvard that is accurate, current and complete. Harvard reserves the right to terminate the registrations and otherwise deny Site access to any person at any time for any reason. The Site will not be liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to protect your password or account information.
Transactions with Third Parties
Your interactions with organizations and/or individuals found on or through the Site, including payment and delivery of goods or services, and any other terms, conditions, warranties or representations associated with such dealings, are solely between you and such organizations and/or individuals. You should make whatever investigation you feel necessary or appropriate before proceeding with any online or offline transaction with any of these third parties.
You agree that Harvard shall not be responsible or liable for any loss or damage of any sort incurred as the result of any such dealings. If there is a dispute between participants on this site, or between users and any third party, you understand and agree that Harvard is under no obligation to become involved. In the event that you have a dispute with one or more other users, you hereby release Harvard and its affiliates and their agents, officers, employees, faculty, staff, students (to the limited extent such students participate in the design, maintenance, and operation of the Site), and members of their governing boards from claims, demands and damages (actual and consequential) of every kind or nature, known or unknown, suspected and unsuspected, disclosed and undisclosed, arising out of or in any way related to such disputes and the Site.
Disclaimer of Warranties/ Limitation of Liability
Harvard makes the Site and its Content available free of charge and to the fullest extent permitted by law disclaims all warranties of any kind (express, implied, or otherwise) regarding the Site and its Content (including User-Generated Content), including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and noninfringement. You access the Site at your own sole risk and in no event shall Harvard or its affiliates or their agents, officers, employees, faculty, staff, students (to the limited extent such students participate in the design, maintenance, and operation of the Site), and members of their governing boards be liable to you, in contract, tort, or otherwise, for any damages of any kind arising out of your access to the Site.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Harvard and its affiliates and their agents, officers, employees, faculty, staff, students (to the limited extent such students participate in the design, maintenance, and operation of the Site), and members of their governing boards from and against any and all liability, loss, claims, damages, costs, and/or actions (including attorneys’ fees) arising from your use of the Site or its Content.

Harvard reserves the right to change the terms of the User Agreement or to modify its features at any time.
