Hi there,

I’m looking for two roommates (preferably female) to share a fabulous 3-br house that is just a smidge up past Porter Square on the way to Davis. It is admittedly not the closest place in the world to the law school if you’re walking (20ish min. — not that that’s terrible!), but if you were biking, e.g., it would take no time. What’s available are the second and third floors of this house. (There is one lovely couple living on the first floor, which has a separate entrance and separate everything.) Caveat: I don’t actually *have* the house secured, but am on a quest to secure it, having gone to check it out. The landlord wants all roommates assembled (and rental applications turned in from everyone) in order to approve. The place is available Aug. 1. But actually, there is definitely before flexibility in that and there may be after flexibility as well. Its $2800 total, which could either be split equally between the three of us or apportioned according to room size or something. I’m flexible.

This is the craigslist posting for the place, which you must look at, please: http://boston.craigslist.org/gbs/abo/3858595883.html. It makes it fairly obvious that it’s fabulous (yes, those are roses you just barely see climbing up the trellis on the side), but in fact, it’s even more fabulous in person, because the posting doesn’t tell you that there’s also a hammock AND raspberry bushes AND gardening space for you should you so desire in the smallish-but-lovely back yard, and also doesn’t really emphasize the awesomeness of the screened-in balcony.

About me: Despite my posting on this site, I am actually not at HLS, but rather a grad student in Math Ed at Tufts. I’m 30 years old, and I work as a research assistant, a tutor, and a TA. I’m originally from DC, but prior to moving here was in North Carolina getting an MFA in Creative Nonfiction. (That was fun, but will probably earn me a total of $10 in my entire life… not that Math Ed leads down a super-lucrative career path either, but it least it *leads* down a career path period.) I am laid back (everyone says that, I know, but I’ll say it too), quiet-ish but friendly, like to go everywhere on foot, and pretty much never cook — not because I order food, but because I tend to eat mostly things that are either cold (e.g., yogurt), peelable (any and all fruit), or otherwise consist of one ingredient (e.g. peas). So — perk! — I don’t compete for kitchen space.

If you’re potentially interested, get in touch ASAP, and we can arrange to meet and for you to see the house and hopefully think it’s as lovely as I do!

Thanks for looking!

The Place:
- The apartment is located in the Harvard Quad (quiet residential area) and has next-door
access to the Harvard Quad shuttle, QRAC gym, and the Quad library. It is a 10-min
walk to Harvard Square. It is also a 5-minute walk to Porter Square, an area with several
super markets, numerous restaurants, coffee shops, etc. The apartment is clean and
modern, has all kitchen appliances, washing and drying machines are in the basement.
- One shared bathroom, large living room and kitchen
- Located on Fernald Drive in Cambridge, MA
- Coin- and credit card-operated laundry available on the first floor
- Both ethernet cable and wifi. There is a TV in the living room
- The available room has one big window, is on the east side of the apartment and can fit
a queen bed, desk, dresser, etc. (It also has a built-in closet.)
- No pets allowed
- BECAUSE THIS APARTMENT IS HARVARD PROPERTY ONLY HARVARD
AFFILIATES ARE ELIGIBLE TO SIGN THE LEASE AGREEMENT AND LIVE IN
THIS PROPERTY.

The Money:
- The rent for the available room is $785. See the floor plan (attached) for the available
room (110 sq feet).
- No security deposits required (all lease processing handled through Harvard)
- Free utilities. Utilities include heat, electricity and fast ethernet cable internet access.
ALL included!
Office.

The Responsibilities:
- On the first weekend of each month, we clean the apartment.
from the library at 3am
- We tend to keep the party away from the apartment. We all work/study hard, and it’s
nice to come home to a quiet place
- We all have our own lives, but enjoy sharing a couple beers, cooking a meal, and
watching the odd movie or just hanging out and talking
- Please note this is for ONE person only. You’re welcome to have friends/significant
others over, but a courtesy email to the rest of the roomies is appreciated.

Apartment Features:
Sunny, unfurnished 1 bedroom/1 bathroom apartment 10 mins to Harvard Square and red line and 15 minutes to Porter Square. It is located in a charming turn of the 20th century building that used to be the Continental Hotel.
Cross Street: Chauncy Street and Massachusetts Ave., steps away from Harvard Law School!
The apartment receives a lot of light and it faces the building’s yard in the back.
There is a dishwasher in the apartment.
Heat and hot water are included.
Layout allows for a small dining room.
There are brand new washers/dryers installed in the building.
Neighbors are not noisy!
There are plenty of restaurants and small shops close by and a few bus stops.
Interesting Fact: Nabokov lived in this building shortly after writing Lolita.

Please contact if you’d like to view the apartment in person or pictures.

I am selling everything in my two bedrooms condo at Inman Square Cambridge.
I was planning a moving sale to sell everything separately but before I do that, I wanted to see if anybody would like to get everything at once!
I can not remember exactly what I have altogether since I haven’t seen my apartment a for a year. (I have been out of US for a year) but I will write everything here that comes to my mind at the moment, at least big furniture.

1- King size bed + its metal frame
2- Queen size bed with frame
3- One big red couch that becomes a single bed. (see the photos)
4- Two IKEA arm chairs, red. One has stain on it. I am not sure if it will be gone when it is washed. Other one is fine (see the photos)
5- One wooden kitchen table, that can be folded half. Really nice. It can be used as a study table too. (see the photos)
6- Two chairs (see the photos)
7- TV and TV stand (see the photos)
8- Radio/CD Player (see the photos)
9- 2 Coffee tables. One is dark wood, other one is IKEA style. (see the photos)
10- One white wooden IKEA computer cabinet + its white leather chair. (see the photos)
11- 2 nice, big wooden IKEA storage units. They can be used in the kitchen, garage, bedroom (see the photos)
12- One nice, big wooden IKEA clothes wardrobe (see the photos)
13- Two massive wood chest of drawers. (see the photos)
14- Two standing lamps for living room/bedroom. (see the photos)
15- Wall clock (see the photo)
16- Wall frames
17- Curtains
18- Tons of kitchenware: pots and pans, silverware, glasses, plates and many more. Basically everything in the apartment!

I probably forgot more stuff but if you are a student or single person/couple who is moving in town, just buy everything and you are all set!

I do not have a US phone number at the moment but I will be in Cambridge between June 25th and June 28th. You can take everything between those dates. Please email me for now!

Another entering HLS student and I are looking for a third roommate for our 3 bedroom. It’s a great place:

-5 minute walk from the law school (12 to Harvard Square, 2 to supermarket)
-Hardwood floors throughout, high ceilings, large windows
-Two full bathrooms
-Big eat-in kitchen, good-sized living room
-Balcony and a beautiful backyard
-Private washer/dryer, dishwasher
-Landlord is pet friendly
-Quiet, tree-lined street

Rent is $1000/month plus utilities. It will be hard to find anything else with this combination of price/proximity/amenities/space. My roommate and I are both friendly and respectful, and we are looking for the same. We are open to a roommate of either gender. Good luck, and I look forward to meeting many of you in the fall!

If you’re interested, please email me at kennethmonroe89@gmail.com
