Welcome to the Class of 2016!
The Executive Board of the Harvard Journal on Racial and Ethnic Justice (HJREJ) would first like to welcome you to HLS! You are among the best and brightest students that the world has to offer, and we are excited that you have decided to spend the next few years with us. We trust that you will find your time at HLS to be a once in a lifetime experience.
Next, we want to welcome you to HJREJ! During your first few months at the law school, you will be exposed to many terrific organizations and journals here at Harvard. All of these organizations and journals exist to enrich your experience during law school. You will come to see that though the time you spend in the law school classroom is invaluable, the time you spend with your classmates involved in law-related and social activities outside the classroom is just as important.
HJREJ will be a unique addition to your involvements at Harvard. Originally founded as an internal publication of the Harvard Black Law Student Association (HBLSA), we have grown into an independent journal committed to publishing manuscripts addressing the issues that speak to racial and ethnic justice throughout the world. There is no other journal at the law school with such a targeted and clear agenda. We are a close family, who share a commitment to social change. As a member of the Journal, you will be surrounded by other individuals who strive to see justice realized.
While working with HJREJ, you will also gain writing and editing experience that will be useful both during and after your time at HLS. You will join a network of amazing individuals dedicated to social change. But most uniquely, you will gain the opportunity to publish your own writing through our blog, or in some cases, through our annually published journal. We are here to encourage student writing and development in any way that we can.
If you have any questions about working with the Journal, please feel free to reach out to Gina (glawrence@jd14), Anisha (aqueen@jd14) and/or any other board member.
Again, we say welcome, and we look forward to an amazing year!
