Each year, Advocates for Human Rights hosts a Training Conference for all new members. The annual event includes a variety of substantive skill development sessions including International Legal Research, Introduction to International Human Rights Advocacy Strategies, and a number of specialized workshops covering topics ranging from Alien Tort Statute Litigation to an Introduction to the Inter-American Court of Human Rights. These workshops are led by members of the Human Rights Program faculty. The conference also hosts a prominent human rights advocate as a keynote speaker. Previous keynote speakers include Paul Hoffman, the eminent human rights lawyer, and Bill Quigley, Legal Director of the Center for Constitutional Rights.
This year, the Advocates for Human Rights Training Conference will take place on Saturday, October 2, 2010 in Ropes Gray, Harvard Law School.
