The Jamaica Sunday Observer has published the Keynote Address of our Inaugural Conference (click here for the full article):
I wish to point out that the role of students in bridging the poverty gap; achieving peace and stability; forging greater linkages with Caribbean states; and assisting Haiti to overcome its most immediate challenges, cannot be overest
The Harvard Law School Blog, HLS in Focus, also recently published an article on our Movie Night event:
The documentary followed the work of a Catholic Missionary, Father Christopher Hartley. The film shed light on the terrible conditions that the Haitian workers are subject to in the fields where they work and live. The workers are smuggled into the country from neighboring Haiti. They are told that they will find a better life in the Dominican Republic and that they will be provided with a home and work for their families as well. Some Haitians even pay for the opportunity.
Congratulations on a very successful first year!
Due to the Success of our Pre-Valentines Day Charity Date Auction, we were able to donate $2,885 to the Pan American Development Foundation’s Haiti Earthquake Relief efforts. This event was sponsored by HLS’s Harvard Caribbean Law Association, HBS’s Caribbean Business Club, and HKS’s Caribbean Caucus on 2-10-2010.
