JRCLS International Day of Service

HLLDS participated in the JRCLS International Day of Service on October 8. For our service project we went to Fresh Pond Reservation in Cambridge, MA, to help do some cleanup in the “bioswale.” The park is a favorite place for running in Cambridge, and we were excited to be able to give back to the park that has given us so much. Seven HLS students and spouses (and one baby!), along with one of our fellow law students from Boston University and his wife, joined together to weed out the non-native grasses and other weeds that were growing in the bioswale. Ranger Jean helped us tell the difference between a “good weed” and a “bad weed,” which was very difficult, believe it or not. After a couple of hours the area was looking “naturally wild” instead of overgrown. Overall it was a great experience, and we’re considering going back again in the spring to help out again!
