Dear Incoming HLS Students,
Welcome to Harvard Law School! My name is Lisa Lana, and I am the President of the Student Representative Board (SRB), Harvard Law School’s student government and advocacy organization. On behalf of the student body, I want to express how excited we are to meet you.
The mission of the SRB is to advocate for the interests of the student body. Our success depends on transparency and accessibility to the students we represent. We have an “open door” policy and appreciate hearing from students about their concerns, so please do not hesitate to get in touch with us. We strive to maintain open channels of communication and a current perspective on the opinions of all of our classmates.
The SRB also organizes events to promote campus-wide community-building and oversees the formation of new student organizations at HLS. A few of the events that we generally plan include: a Thanksgiving charity dinner; regular pub nights for the entire student body; and lunches with faculty. We’re always looking for additional creative ideas, and we look forward to hearing your suggestions.
The SRB includes elected representatives from the each of the classes each year. We will be holding elections for all unfilled positions in the fall, including 1L, LL.M. and Transfer Student Reps; please watch for information in the coming weeks. There are also plenty of opportunities for students not on the Board to sit on various committees and give regular feedback.
The SRB is excited to meet you and hear what you have to say about your transition to law school. Feel free to contact me at email@example.com with whatever questions you may have. Please also watch for our regular email updates throughout the year, and check out the SRB website at www3.law.harvard.edu/orgs/srb/ for updates regarding our work.
Have a great time at orientation and let us know if there’s anything that we can do to help. We look forward to meeting you!
