We are a volunteer organization that prepares federal and state tax returns for free for taxpayers whose annual household income is below $52,000. Generally, we can file your returns electronically. Please note that while we can prepare most tax returns, some taxpayers may have situations that are too complicated for our service.
Our volunteer location is the main Cambridge Public Library at 449 Broadway. Our hours are Fridays from 12:00-4:30 and Saturdays from 10:00-3:00. (We will be starting at 12:30 on the following Fridays: 2/14, 2/21/ and 4/11.) We will be preparing returns from February 7th to April 12th. However, we will be closed March 14th-22nd for spring break. Additionally, on March 28th, we will be preparing returns at Hauser Hall 102 on the Harvard Law School campus, as the public library is closed that day. No appointment is needed. Please note, we tend to be more crowded later in the tax season, so we recommend that you come us soon as possible to get your return done.
Be sure to bring with you all of your tax forms (W-2s, 1099s, etc.), including your MA 1099-HC form (health insurance form), your driver’s license (or other form of ID), and Social Security cards for everyone in your family. We will not be able to do your tax return if you do not bring these documents.
