Professor Cheryl Saunders is the Laureate Professor, Personal Chair in Law, and Director of Studies in Government Law at the University of Melbourne. She is also a member of the Ring of Friends, member of the Scientific Committee at the University of Girona, and Visiting Professor at George University Law Center. In 2003, she was awarded the Centenary Medaland she is an officer of the Order of Australia and a chevalier in the Ordre National de la Legion d’Honneur of France. Her research interests include Australian and comparative public law; comparative federalism, including intergovernmental relations; the methodology of comparative constitutional law, including the significance of constitutional history and theory; and constitution making, design and change. She has held numerous professional, editorial and consulting positions and published an extensive collection of books and journal articles on her research.
Saunders earned her B.A., LL.B., and Ph.D. from the University of Melbourne.
